Ultrathin Gold Nail Ornaments

Hello guys. I'm back with a nail look I enjoyed. This is the first time I'm trying out this type of nail decorations. If you're wondering how come my nails are so short, the reason is, well, my nails got so damaged that I had to take a break and just use treatments and wait until they get back to normal. But thing are getting better already.

Nail Fail: The Ugly Edition

Hey everyone! The title says it all, this post is featuring the less flattering nail looks. Some of these are here because the execution of a good idea went wrong, some are here because the idea was wrong to begin with. And some are here because the photos didn't turn out well. Anyways, here is the Nail Fail post.

The problem with the look above was the ring finger. In order to dry the nail polish faster on the other fingers, I applied some oil. Somehow the oil got onto the ring finger, and the nail pearls would not stick to the nail polish. They just slid off. So this look was ruined (but it was ugly anyways). The pink nail polish is from an old essence collection, the white pearls are Catrice LE, the pink pearls are essence. The white and black glitter is by Maybelline (Colorama, Polka Dots, no.197). On the pointer I'm wearing glitter from Catrice (old collection, no.40, I'm Dynamite), and on the pinky I used the Maybelline topper and a glitter nail polish by Smart Girls (LE, no.116). Turns out, I'm not a big fan of the smart girls glitter, it's difficult to pack on a lot. Or maybe I'm just over glitter. All in all, I do not like this look - it just looks wrong.
So here I'm wearing a shade by Catrice, Caught On The Red Carpet. It's a great shade, one of my absolute all-time favorites. I wanted to top it off with one of my favorite top coats from essence's Metal Glam limited edition. Here are the results:
What happened was, the nail polish with the gold flakes ruined the base, it pulled it off, and that's why you can see the uneven red coat underneath. All in all, it would be good in my opinion for essence to put this gold flakes top coat in the standard range. You just have to be careful and always apply a transparent top coat first, so the gold flakes do not ruin the base color. I love how this polish looks and I've worn it a lot. You probably remember this polish, it was in high demand when this trend edition was out:
Here is one gold and bronze look:
I didn't like this gold look because I felt like my nails looked like duck feet (if that makes sense). I applied the nail polish wider towards the tip of the nail, that's why it looks weird. This polish is by Catrice, no.910, Oh My Goldness, and here I am wearing 3 (or maybe even 4) coats. So, not a fun polish, and it doesn't look very good layered over other polishes. Also, the pictures kinda suck.
This last look had two huge flaws. The first problem was that the photos came out really weird, my skin looks blue, it's really creepy (the one featured above is one of the better pictures LMAO). The other problem was that this nail polish was too liquid and it spilled towards my cuticles. When this happens, it's impossible to clean it, and it looks really bad (looks messy). I'm wearing a nail water decal from KKCenterHK (CLICK HERE), which I love, but unfortunately, the nail sticker does not have the white parts between the petals. So, it was barely visible over the red background. That's why it really only looks good over white nail polish.

So that's the Nail Fail post. Do you enjoy seeing these fail posts? Let me know in the comments, and thanks for stopping by. Don't forget to follow me.

Love, J.

Red Polish, Gold Water Decals

Hello guys! Today's nail look was so much fun to wear. I love this dark red polish shade, it's perfect for autumn. The water decals look gorgeous in real life, and they're very durable. I've worn them before and love them! Sadly, I haven't snapped too many good photos when I wore this look. Nevertheless, I decided to post it anyways.

Products used:
Base coat: essence, studio nails, 24/7 nail base: I'm not really a fan of this base, though I like how this looks by itself - it's a sheer matte shade.
Polish: L'Oreal, Resist&Shine, no.603: This polish might be the reason why I am not in the mood to purchase any new L'Oreal polishes. You see, the shade has good pigmentation and texture, but the polish leaves red lines on everything you touch. Even 4 days later, when you know it's dry! Like, if you pull your nail over paper, cardboard or plastic, you're left with long red lines (like lines from coloring pens) that will not wash off. Not cool L'Oreal, not cool.
Top coat: essence, studio nails, better than gel nails, top sealer, high gloss: a great top coat

Thumb: smart girls get more, no.117: I love their glitters, however, it's difficult to apply a thicker layer. Still, it's very sparkly and dries very fast.
Pointer&Pinky: essence colour&go, 67 Make It Golden: an oldie but a goodie. Too bad this is no longer available. It's by far my favorite glitter top coat.
Water decals: N.NAIL Golden Dots And Stars Pattern Nail Water Decals [NNAIL-WDHHC046-Gold] from KKCenterHk: a perfect product! Durable, easy to use and look amazing. 10/10

The ring is from Accessorize
So, are you feeling these golden water decals? Do you like gold on your nails? Ugh, today I have to clean my room and rearrange all my make up. Wish me luck LOL. Until the next post, follow me on FB, Twitter or bloglovin'.

Now I ain't sayin' she a gold digger...

Hello lovely! Today's nail art was inspired by gold diggers (you gotta love 'em). In today's Instagram world, everyone has at least one gold digger that they follow (I do)! I mean, I know they're put down, but who's to say those girls don't earn all the stuff someone buys them? Know what I mean? LOL Seriously though, ladies, stay in school and stay off old dudes - that shit's nasty!

Products used:
Nail polish (base): essence, colour&go, no.104, Sweet As Candy (nice sheer lady-like polish, click HERE to see more)
Pointer: glitter by essence, no longer available
Middle: nail art rhinestones, from Offertissima (click HERE)
Ring finger: glitter by essence, no longer available (got it during the January sale)
Pinky: Smart girls get more, glitter nail polish, no.117 (on sale right now in dm's). What I love about this brand is that their polishes are very good, they last a long time and are cheap. I've had ''better'' brands disappoint me more often than this one. I highly recommend their glitter polishes.

What do you think of this look? Would you wear it for a special occasion, or on any other day? I love skittle-looks, and who doesn't love wearing glitter occasionally? Anyways, thanks for stopping by, don't forget to follow me on bloglovin'.

Mahidevran Sultan Nail Art

Hello ladies! For a long time I was obsessed with a turkish telenovela, called 'Muhtesem Yuzyil'. From all the female characters (and there are a lot), my favorite (and to me, the most beautiful) was always Mahidevran Sultan. She is portrayed by a turkish actress Nur Fettahoglu. In the show the female characters wear gorgeous costumes and amazing pieces of jewelry - but no nail polish (because historically they didn't have nail polish 500 years ago, at the time the show takes place). I always wondered what sort of nails the ladies would wear if they had the option. So I created this look to honor the most beautiful character.

Products used:
All Nails:  1 coat, Catrice LE Neo Geisha, 'Discreet Artist'
Index and Small: 1 coat, Smart Girls Get More, no. 115
Nail Art jewels: random nail art wheel
I know croatian ladies have heard of this show - are there any fans out there? Who was your favorite? Hurrem? Let me know, and thanks for stopping by,

These Nails Suck - But So Does The Finale Of HIMYM

Products used for this look:
Smart girls get more, no.36 - this polish is watery, but it shows you how a brand doesn't mean anything because this polish is light years better than the Maybelline green from this post. I'm wearing 3 coats, but 2 are enough. Downside - it's slow drying, but the finish is amazing - it's very smooth. I have this polish a long time, and the texture is still great. SGGM has some good polishes.
Maybelline COLORAMA, Neons, no.190 - what you're seeing on these pictures are 3 layers - and it's still transparent. I was wearing a base coat, and this horrible polish STILL painted my nails green! Disgusting. It has a matte finish, and is long lasting, but I would not recommend this polish. I got it on sale for less than a euro, so that's fine. I might use it over some other green polish, but never again solo. One of the worst polishes I've ever tried.

Now, let's talk about the How I Met Your Mother finale. I wanted to wait a while so that everyone had time to find out what had happened, so that noone would be upset because there were
SPOILERS.
Honestly, if you by now do not know how the show ended, it's not my fault you live under a rock.

So, Ted Mosby turned out to be a creep, pervert, psychopath, and (probably) murderer. He was obsessed with a woman (Robin) that wanted nothing to do with him - she refused to have kids with him (I guess she didn't love him enough), and she slept with his best friend - he even watched them get married. So he finds some poor chick, gets her pregnant, uses her to have kids (but never even likes her). When the kids are old enough (they're no longer babies, because Robin hates children), he kills his wife off (most likely), and then as soon as she's dead, gets back the chick he always wanted. Disgusting.
Yeah yeah, I know I'm exaggerating (obviously), but seriously, what the hell???!!!
I think the whole show was wrongly marketed - I think the title of the show was misleading. You know, when someone asks their father ''how did you meet our mother'' - than the father usually tells them the story of how he met their mother. He does not use the opportunity to tell them how he wants to bang their aunt. And how he doesn't give a shit about their mother. I mean, the scenario of how the kids are OK with this - it would never happen in real life. His kids would detest him.
I mean, those poor kids just wanted to know how he met their mother - and he won't even give them that. He spends his time talking about how he really loved another person the whole time (even if she never liked him at all), how he only used their mother as a baby-making machine, and is asking his kids' permission to f*** someone else.
Ted and Robin probably killed the mother together. Ted got his kids (which was what he wanted), and Robin gets Ted and doesn't have to lose her good figure. So gross. The show should have been called ''How I killed your mother and now I'll ask you to support me while I f*** that bitch that helped me get rid of your mom (most likely)''. The whole show made us think that it will be a story about how a couple got together, but really, it's a story about a guy who has kids with some sorry girl he hates, and he can't wait until she's dead so he can f*** other people.
Gross.
Leave your thoughts below, and let me know what you think. Are you disappointed? Do you think Ted is a murderer? Do you think he ever even loved the mother or was he just using her as a baby making machine? Do you think Robin is the greatest slut that ever lived? Do you think the show will now be hated amongst all the previous fans? Let me know.

Thanks for stopping by,

love, Jelena

Blue Glitter Skittles - Nail Look

Products used in this look:
All Nails: essence 'nail colour 3' collection, 1x 'Midnight Date', 1x ' City That Never Sleeps'
Thumb:  smart girls get more, no. 142 (limited edition, but still available)
Index: smart girls get more, no. 40 (applied with sponge)
Middle: smart girls get more, no. 115
Ring:  Maybelline Colorama, Polka Dots, no. 197
Small: Deborah Milano, Cracking, no. 03

Hey everyone! This was such a fun look to wear. First I applied 1 coat of essence's 'Midnight Date' (what it looks like: HERE), then I applied 'City That Never Sleeps' over it. 'Midnight Date' is stunning by itself, but the second polish (purple/green flakes) gives it an extra oomph. If I had worn it alone, that would have been enough, because it looked spectacular, but I decided to do some skittles. All the smart girls nail polishes used here are really high quality, in general their glitter polishes are really great, and I recommend getting them. Shade no.115 (blue glitter) is my favorite, it's so rich in color. Right now these are available in DM stores, and you can choose between gold, blue, purple or green glitter - all are amazing. This Maybelline topper is also quite good, but the background in this look was too dark to see it in all its glory.

What do you think of this look? Would you wear it, or is it a little too much? I think my favorite finger is the middle one - the blue glitter took my breath away. Anyways, thanks for stopping by, and see you soon!

xoxo, Jelena

Ombre Heart Studs from KKCenterHk

Happy Holidays! When I did a review of KKCenterHk N.NAIL Heart Studs in White - 6mm Nail Art Decorations [NNAIL-DRN628] (product LINK), I wrote that I chose the white studs because it will be easy to paint them into any shade I wanted. So here is a look I promised using those studs. You can check out my original review of the Heart Studs HERE.
This look was easy to achieve - first I had to bend the hearts so they would match my nail shape (piece of cake), then I painted the studs with nail polish. I waited about 5 minutes for them to dry, and then I applied them to my nails using nail glue. I love Ombre effect everywhere, and I had so much fun wearing this look.
Nail polishes used for this look:
Base - 2 coats of Catrice's Limited Edition Neo Geisha Collection - C01 Discreet Artist
Yellow Heart - smart girls get more, no. 36
Tangerine Heart - Deborah Milano, 19 Sombrero Tan
Orange Heart - Essence colour&go, old collection
Red Heart - Maybelline Colorama, no.75
Yes, the hearts can be re-used, but there's no need for that, since I still have a ton of them left. You really get a lot with one purchase. Anyways, I am so happy with this product and with the final look. Do you like this look?
***KKCenterHk has sent me the N.NAILS Heart Studs for reviewing purposes. All opinions are my own.

Sparkle Over Sponge

This was supposed to be a gradient, but what the hell happened? I know now what my mistake was, but I didn't want to let this look go to waste, so I threw some sparkle over it (because that's what you do, apparently, ha ha). Anyway, the black shade is Maybelline's 23 Dark Chocolate (no wonder this horrible watery polish is discontinued), the grey is Catrice 610 ASHley, and on the tips She's 121/115. The sparkle is Smart Girls Get More no. 138 (I think this was LE somewhere around Christmas). The red sparkle on the thumb is another old Maybelline, 54 Cherry Sweet (slowest drying polish EVER). So that's that, next gradient I know what to do (hopefully) so I don't need to 'fix' it afterwards.
I didn't really enjoy this look, even though the Smart Girls sparkle-polish is stunning. What do you think?

New Year's Eve Appropriate

Hey everyone! If you live in Croatia, you know that Maybelline's new polishes are (almost) here, which means the old polishes are on sale! I love sales so I took advantage of the awesome prices and picked up a few Maybelline polishes. The red one on these pictures (and by itself in the photo below) is number 150 'Fruit Juice'. It is just the most beautiful red, I cant believe I never noticed it before - it has amazing durability and great shine - and it's a one coater, ah, it's just perfect. Go to your stores and grab a few of these, you will NOT regret it! The glitter on top (I think I will wear this look again for New Year's Eve, it looks very appropriate for that night) is by 'Smart Girls get more', it's one of their limited editions, number 142. The first few times I saw it I walked past it in the stores and decided not to get it, but since I ended up getting a few more from the limited edition collection, I got this one as well, and luckily I love it when it's on my nails. I did not even wear a top coat over this! Anyway, see you in the next post, hopefully you guys have some nice plans for the last day of 2012!
